Black Fox Coffee has never taken outside investment. A former employee sued it and co-founder Daniel Murphy in January 2023, alleging unlawful tip pooling and withheld tips, then dropped the case that April without a settlement or ruling. The company answers to its co-founders: Murphy runs it as chief executive, and Gary Hardwick is chairman.
