Court Street Bagels

Dining · 1 location · Brooklyn: Cobble Hill

A Cobble Hill bagel counter that's been slinging classics since 2004, no chains, no investors. But its founder was pushed out by a landlord in 2024, and under new ownership it's still working through a failed health inspection from earlier this year.

Founder-run

The Big Picture

Mixed Picture

Court Street Bagels is entirely locally owned, with no outside investment in its single Cobble Hill storefront. But the business changed hands in January 2024 after its founder of twenty years was pushed out in a landlord dispute, and NYC's own health department records show its most recent inspections, in December 2025 and January 2026, found repeated critical food-safety violations that remain unresolved as of July 2026. It's now owned and operated by Adam Alsoora, who also runs the competing Smith Street Bagels a few blocks away.
