The Big Picture

As Good as It Gets

Good Day Pilates was founded by Clara Gilmour, an Australian physical therapist who moved to NYC and built three boutique reformer studios in SoHo, Williamsburg, and Brooklyn Heights with no outside investors. Her 12 years in physical therapy define the instruction style, and her Good Day Academy — with a scholarship program — trains the next generation of instructors in it; at this scale, though, the studio has little public labor or environmental record to date. The company answers to one person: its founder.
