Arnold Wilkerson has owned and run Little Pie Company since he started baking pies in his Manhattan Plaza apartment in 1983, with no outside investor at any point and no franchising. As a single storefront with a small staff, it has little public labor or environmental record in either direction, and its sustainability claims — better ovens, LED lighting, local ingredients — are self-reported and unverified. It answers to Wilkerson and to the 1,689-unit residential complex, long home to performing artists, that is its landlord.
