The Mercer Brand
Dutch sneaker and apparel brand · 1 location · Amsterdam: De Pijp
An Amsterdam sneaker label built on sustainable materials, from pineapple leather to grape leather. On some of its clothing it publishes the production city and the name of the firm that audited the factory; on its sneakers, that disclosure is missing entirely.
The Big Picture
Pim Dresen founded The Mercer Brand in Amsterdam in 2013 and remains its sole director, through his own holding company, with no outside investor anywhere in the record. Parts of its clothing range carry a real traceability panel naming the production city and the auditor — QIMA, SGS or TÜV Rheinland — but none of its footwear does, and it publishes no supplier list, no emissions data and no code of conduct. Good On You scored both its planet and people records 2 out of 5 in April 2025, which leaves the founder who owns it as the only person answerable for closing those gaps.
