Utopia Bagels has stayed a family-and-partner operation for 45 years, growing from one Whitestone storefront to four NYC shops entirely on its own money — no VC, PE, or institutional investor has ever been involved. As a small, single-metro operator, its public labor and environmental record is thin beyond its wages and inspection history. It answers to the four co-owners who actually run it: Scott and Jesse Spellman, and operating partners Angelo and Jimmy Tsoulos.
