Los Tacos No. 1
Tijuana-style taqueria chain · 10+ locations · NYC
A Tijuana-style taco counter that grew from one Chelsea Market stall to ten Manhattan shops. Private equity firm TSG Consumer took a stake in September 2026, and neither side would say how big that stake is. Co-founder Christian Pineda still runs it as CEO.
The Big Picture
Los Tacos runs ten counter-service shops in Manhattan, presses its own tortillas at a dedicated production kitchen, and posts $18 an hour for cashiers, prep cooks and grill cooks alike. In September 2026 it took a strategic investment from TSG Consumer, a private equity firm managing roughly $14 billion, to fund expansion into more neighborhoods and cities. Neither side disclosed the size of that stake, so Christian Pineda and his co-founders now run the company alongside an owner whose share of it they have not made public.
