The Amsterdam sneaker label is stocked in close to a hundred shops across Europe, the US and the Gulf, but owns just one itself. Founder Guillaume Philibert still leads design, and no outside investor has ever been reported.
The Big Picture
Filling Pieces has taken no reported outside investment, and the designer who started it is still its creative director, with a chief operating officer running the business underneath him. Its shoes are made in Portugal from Leather Working Group leather and GOTS organic cotton, but the brand names no factory, publishes no supplier code of conduct and discloses no emissions. That leaves a company answerable to its founder rather than a fund, and a supply chain nobody outside it can see.
